Electric scooters are great for a few quick rides around town, but our gas-powered 49cc scooters allow you to experience so much more!
● Gas is expensive but riding a moped is not - our mopeds average 100 miles per gallon!
Forget booking a rental car - sightsee Detroit at your own pace! No special license or skills are required to drive one. Mopeds are street legal and can go up to 35mph!

Note: Please read everything below before booking. You must have a valid driver’s license, credit or debit card, and be 19 years of age to book a moped.

Saturday/Sunday from 11am-8PM!
Last rental can go out at 7PM to returned by 8PM.
What to expect:
After booking your reservation you will receive confirmation from us about your upcoming ride! Booking a rental does not guarantee a reservation. Motown Mopeds reserves the right to approve all bookings. You will be notified either way if you have been confirmed or denied your reservation.
Arrive at our Eastern Market Location about 15-20 minutes before your rental begins, to allow time to find parking, and for instructions on how to operate your moped.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt if you get cold easily. At 30mph the temperature is 10 degrees colder than whatever actual temperature is. So, on a 65 degree day it will feel like 55 degrees while riding your moped.
GAS:
Mileage is unlimited and you do not need to return the moped full of gas upon your return!
If the moped is running low on gas, and you want to continue riding; you are responsible for adding 93 Ethanol fuel ONLY. The mopeds average 100 miles per gallon. Each moped has a gas tank capacity of about 1.5 gallons.
WHERE CAN I RIDE:
You may ride your moped on any street where the speed limit is 35 mph or below.
PARKING:
Please use the ParkDetroit app to pay for street parking Monday-Saturday between 7AM and 10PM on any street with a zone marker while riding the mopeds. Enter in the letter and numbers on the moped sticker near the rear tire. This is considered the license plate number according to the Detroit Parking Department. Parking is free everywhere in Detroit on Sundays! You will be charged an undisclosed inconvenience fee and the full amount of any parking tickets incurred during your rental usage.
RETURNING YOUR MOPED:
You will return the moped back to 1524 Winder Street, Detroit, MI 48207, at the end of your rental time. If you are going to be late returning your moped you need to contact us. We reserve the right to withhold your security deposit if you are more than 10 minutes late returning your rental.
Weather Cancellation Policy:
Motown Mopeds reserves the right to cancel your reservation at any point and time. This is for your safety as well as the safety of others.
Riding a moped in the rain is very dangerous as the vehicle is more prone to skidding out, and you could easily injure yourself and others. If rain and thunderstorms are forecasted your rental may be cancelled. You will receive a full refund within 5-10 days if this is the case.
We will do our best to notify you at least one hour before your rental begins of a cancellation but sometimes Michigan weather changes on a dime. Please keep this in mind before you book a rental with us!
Communicate with us at any time about any weather concerns! We are friendly and understanding but need to consider everyone’s safety first and foremost.
Examples:
Your rental begins at 11am but there is light rain forecasted from 6am-9am that morning. The rest of the day is filled with sunny skies. We would not cancel your rental.
Your rental beings at 4pm but there is an 85% chance of a thunderstorm occurring at 5pm. We would notify you ASAP, cancel your rental and send you a full refund within 5-10 days.
Customer Cancellation Policy:
You reserve the right to cancel your moped rental reservation at any point up to 24 hours before your rental time begins to receive a full refund.
Email or call us to cancel! We will use the time stamp of when you sent the email/left a voicemail to determine if you fall in the allowed cancellation window.
*Stripe submits refunds to your customer’s bank immediately. Depending on the bank's processing time, it can take anywhere from 5-10 business days to show up on your customer’s bank account.
No show/late arrival policy:
If you do not show up for your confirmed moped rental reservation you will not be refunded.
If you are more than 20 mins late for your booked rental reservation time Motown Mopeds reserves the right to rent to someone else and you will not be refunded.
Deposit Policy:
Your deposit of $100 will be processed back to you at the end of your rental when your moped has been reviewed and checked back in. Motown Mopeds reserves the right to withhold your entire deposit if any damage or loss has occurred to the moped while in your care.

Helmet Policy:
Riders 19 years of age and older are not required by Michigan law to wear a helmet. It is at your own discretion to wear a helmet or not if you are 19 years of age or older.
As stated in our waiver, “You acknowledge that riding a Scooter is inherently dangerous and carries with it the potential for serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis and death, and property damage and loss.”
Helmets do come with all rentals at no extra charge if you choose to wear one. We have a variety of sizes and sanitize them after each use.
COVID-19 Policy:
We sanitize the mopeds and helmets after each rental.
